ADLD Center

Matched Genetic Counseling Student:

Kara Skorge is from Jasper, Indiana, and is a 2021 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, where she majored in biochemistry and minored in psychology. She has since spent her time working in a cardiac clinical pharmacology research lab at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She has also previously worked as a long-term substitute English teacher at a local middle school. She has always had a passion for genetic counseling and was inspired by her late grandfather to one day specialize in adult-onset neurodegenerative disorders. In her free time, she has loved getting involved with the community through service projects and performing in local and school-wide musical theatre productions.

Student Initiatives:

●     Create a patient handbook for the ADLD Center website.

Proposed Project8 Foundation projects:

The goal for this project would be to connect with genetic testing labs and companies to ensure they're able to detect ADLD so that patients can accurately get diagnosed. We have a list of labs with which we want to connect, and we have patient samples, so an intern who would like to build relationships with labs and us, and connect dots to enable accurate diagnosis of ADLD would be a great fit for this project.
