Genetic Counseling Student Exchange program

The Genetic Counseling Student Exchange (GCSX) is an ODC’s JumpStart program, with the main object of engaging future genetic counselors in rare disease advocacy and to raise awareness about the need to support rare disease foundations and organizations and affected families.

We are partnering with the Masters Program in Genetic Counseling at the University of Pennsylvania as well as other Masters Programs across the country. Students select from a list of advocacy projects crafted by rare disease groups and work with them for a period of 5 to 6 weeks. During this time, the student and the chosen rare disease organization work together to develop informational materials, such as articles and videos, that will serve the rare disease community.

Here you will find information about our past and current students and links to the materials they have developed during their internships. For more information, please contact Deborah Requesens (dreques@upenn.edu).
